About Our Chapter

Our Focus

  • We host a variety of workshops with the aim of developing the future generation of professional engineers. Our workshops include: Resume Building, Polishing an Elevator Pitch, Mock Interviews and much more.

  • Service from our professional chapter is a pillar upon which our academic chapter thrives. We always want to make sure to pay this forward! The most prominent service event we host is the Future Meets Present (FMP) High School Engineering Conference, which aims to retain students from underrepresented communities in the STEM pipeline

  • Our strong connection to our local professional allows us to host the MentorSHPE program in the winter. Through this program we connect you with industry professionals to guide you through questions you might have about your academic and future career path.

  • At the heart of our mission is our community. Social events ranging from taco runs, gingerbread house making and bowling night ensure that you (our students) feel right at home. Here with their familia.

We are a group of students at the University of Washington passionate about empowering young Hispanics to become professionals in their STEM pursuits. We believe in the power of a supportive community and how important it is to have this support as students develop in their academic career. We are dedicated to developing the professional and academic skills of our members by offering them internship, networking, mentoring, and diversity awareness opportunities. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is a national organization by which we represent our school’s chapter.
