Miriam Castillo-Romero

Hi everyone! My name is Miriam Castillo-Romero and I am a fourth year student in Computer Engineering. I was born and raised in the Seattle, WA area but my family is from Puebla, Mexico. I have been a part of SHPE since my first year and have been able to connect with a wonderful community of latinos in STEM who are motivated, intelligent, and supportive. Josue Toscano

Yo, my name is Josue Toscano. I am from Yakima, Washington I’m a fourth year majoring in Material Science and Engineering at the university of Washington. My family are from Mexico notably Colima and Michoacán. I’ve known about SHPE since senior year of high school and been part of it ever since. Fun fact about me I never broken a bone before. Favorite formula one driver right now is Max Verstappen. My favorite movies are Spider Man 2, Interstellar, Whiplash and The Dark Knight just to name a few. Hola! My name is Mariela Cordero Clemente, and I am a junior studying civil engineering. I am from Seattle, and my family is from San Marcos, Guatemala and Guerrero, Mexico. Hi everyone! My name is Laysha Araiza, and I’m a sophomore studying Computer Engineering. I’m from the Yakima Valley here in Washington state (509 shoutout!) and I come from a farm working background. My family is from Jalisco, Mexico and Michoacán, Mexico. I joined SHPE winter quarter of my freshman year as I was seeking for a place of familiarity. Three things I absolutely love: My cat, coffee, and concerts!
