Hi everyone! My name is Jimena and I am a current senior studying Informatics: HCI. I was born and raised here in Seattle but my family is from Chihuahua, Mexico I’m proud to be Mexicana! I have been in SHPE since my freshman year SHPE been an amazing familia on campus for me, I am super excited to be one of the Co- Presidents this year. On my free time I enjoy going to concerts, hiking or hanging out with friends. Can’t wait to see what is in store this year!
Stephany Ayala-Cerna

Hola familia! I feel honored the be co-leading our UW SHPE chapter this upcoming academic year! I am a first year grad-student studying Electrical Engineering, and I am looking to focus on machine learning and A.I. as I continue my education here at the UW. My family is from Michoacan, Mexico, but I was born and raised in Mount Vernon, WA. My biggest hobby is watching movies (especially a good one in theaters) and also enjoy watching sports.

I love connecting with fellow latinos in STEM and being able to find a community who supports me. I love reading, traveling and meeting new people, reach out to me if you need anything!

I'm ever thankful of how SHPE has provided me a home away from home and a plethora of career opportunities. I aim to return the favor and provide the same, if not better, experience to this year's students. Outside of academics, you might find me rock climbing, tinkering around at one of UW's makerspaces, or dancing to some cumbia!

Saludos. My name is Jose Adan and I am the secretary for SHPE UW for the 2023-2024 academic school year. I am a junior majoring in chemical engineering and minoring in French. With roots in Jalisco and Nayarit, I have a deep connection to my culture and through SHPE, I wish to actualize the STEM potential of our community.

My name is Miriam Castillo-Romero. I'm from SeaTac WA, and my family is from Puebla Mexico. I'm a second-year ECE student. Some hobbies I enjoy are drawing, playing music, hiking, and working out. I joined SHPE because I wanted to connect with individuals in a community that empowered Hispanic students in STEM. This past year SHPE has welcomed me into the amazing Familia. This coming year I'm excited to be the Director of Finance and be a part of the meaningful impact SHPE has on our community. I look forward to all the events and opportunities to come!

My name is Mariajose Estrada, I'm a first gen Mexican-American student in my third year at the university of washington pursuing a major in civil and structural engineering major. One of my biggest personal traits is being positive even when things are looking difficult because there's always a solution and if not we can come up with one.
